Tyler's soccer season

Tyler also had a great soccer season.  I couldn't believe how far the kids have come in just a few months.  They are really starting to understand the game, and sometimes even play as a team :)  Tyler did awesome!  He is truly defensive minded, although he does well as a forward too, therefore, he spent most of his time playing mid-field.  He is a little hustler and never gives up.

This was shortly before he scored a GOALLLLLLL!  We were too excited, and busy cheering for him to take pictures of the goal.

I am glad to see that my son is not the only one that can't be serious for a picture.  What a bunch of silly boys!

Back: Jackson, Sam, Noah

After his final game, we let him choose a few of his teammates to come over for a late night.  They had pizza and played night games.  I can't believe how big he is getting.  I remember doing things like that when I was a kid.  Exciting times for him :)

Em's Soccer Season

Emily had another great soccer season!  She had lots of neighborhood and school friends on her team, so she had lots of fun!  Here are a few of my favorite pictures...

I must admit that with all the friends on her team, there were moments of giggling sessions, tickling and dancing going on, but they had a great time.  I had to keep reminding my self that that was the most important thing.

This picture was taken right after Emily got hit HARD right in the face with the ball, hence the reason she's not smiling.  She is one tough little cookie :)

Babysitter

We left the kids with a sitter last night so we could go to stake temple night.  Kate has become quite the mama's girl, so I was a basket case when we left her home crying her little heart out. Tyler was at scouts, and when he got home, she did fine.  As long as he was taking care of her, she was happy.  I thought that was so sweet.  He is such a great big brother.  Emily was a huge helper to the sitter, doing everything she could to help.  Gavin on the other hand... The sitter brought her 11 year old little sister to get some baby-sitting experience.  Gavin was outside playing on the swing set when she went out to tell him it was time to come in the house.  He told her that he was going to hit her with the swing.  Really, this shouldn't make me laugh, but it does.  When he woke up this morning, I asked him if he hit the baby sitter with the swing.  He simply said, "I tried."

Old and Worn

I learned today that it's not only the kids that say funny things.  Travis came home in between his bishopric meetings just as I was debating on what to wear to church.  I picked out a tan skirt with a button up long sleeved shirt.  He looked it over and asked if that is what I was going to wear today.  I told him that I had planned on it.  He wondered why I didn't wear my dress.  I explained that I really don't like dresses.  I am much more comfortable in a skirt.  I asked if the outfit I had picked looked bad.  He explained very nicely that my shirt looked a little bit old and worn.  I told him that I would just throw it away to which he replied, and I quote, "No.  You should keep it.  You could paint in it."  HAHAHAHAHA!!!  Sad thing is, he was right.

Kids K

The kids and I ran a kids K up in Layton this morning.  It was so much fun!!!  They were up bright and early, full of energy, ready to run.

They had lots of activities planned for the kids before the race.  Here they are painting mugs.  They will be ready in about a week, and I'm sure they will turn out beautiful!

Here we are waiting....

and waiting...

and waiting some more...

Finally it's time to start.  Tyler was right up in the front of the pack, ready to go!

I think Emily was a little bit nervous.

When it started, they were both off like a flash!  I could not catch either of them.  I didn't know what to do.  Here I was running a kids race, and couldn't even catch up to my own kids.  I decided to keep running, sure that one of them would tire out and stop.  Sure enough, Emily started to tire out and look around for me.  I soon caught up to her and we finished the race together.  She struggled a little bit with a belly ache, but she was tough and finished strong.  We didn't see Tyler until the finish line.  He had been waiting there for a few minutes.  He says that he finished within the top 10, but every time I talk to him about it, his time keeps getting better.  He did do really well, he even passed up the race leader with the balloons.  I guess we'll never know.

After the race, they received medals and t-shirts.  They both worked really hard to accomplish their goal, and I couldn't be prouder of them!

WAY TO GO KIDS!  I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND AM VERY PROUD OF YOU :)

Gavin's First Day of Preschool

Gavin started Joy School with a few of the boys in the neighborhood this last week.  I had him signed up for preschool, but he isn't potty trained yet, so I had to pull him out, to which he replied, "It's OK mom.  You can just home school me."

He had a great day playing with his little buddies.  They played Play-Doh, read books, sang songs, had a snack and did a little craft.  He can't wait until next week!

Nine Months

Nine months?  I can't believe it.  Nine months is such a strange milestone for me.  It took 9 long months for her to be born, and now nine months has quickly passed.  Where has the time gone?

We took Kate to the doctor last week.  Here are her stats:   17 lbs. 1 oz. (19%)  and 26.75" long (24%).  I am a bit surprised that she isn't a little bit bigger, considering how chubby she was when she was born.

She is developing very quickly.  She isn't quite crawling yet.  She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth, but can't quite figure out what to do next.  Instead, she flops to her belly and does a mean army crawl.

She is a good eater, but very messy.  Here she is eating some peas.  She grabbed the spoon right before it hit her mouth, and here are the results.  She likes just about everything, but is getting to the stage that she wants some table foods too.

She says "mamama" and "dada".  She likes to read, play peek-a-boo, patty cake, and big girl.  She is still sleeping like an angel.  She takes two 2-3 hour naps and sleeps for 12 hours at night.  Lucky me :)

I was folding laundry the other day and looked down to see her standing up against the chair.  I was shocked!  I immediately helped her down, because I didn't want her to fall and hurt herself, and she hasn't pulled herself up again.

She has five teeth already.  That's right, five.  I looked into her mouth a few days ago and was shocked!  Her little mouth looked so sore.  It was red, bruised and swollen.  Poor little thing.

I still can't believe she has blue eyes.  BRIGHT blue eyes.  They are so beautiful, and she receives plenty of compliments on them wherever we go!

Kate received her first hickey this month.  Travis was giving her a bottle and fell asleep with her.  Emily, the adoring sister, was kissing on her a little too much and sucked a great big hickey on her cheek.  Try explaining that to the doctor.  Hopefully he doesn't turn us in!

I can understand a little bit though.  Just looking at this picture makes me want to kiss her too!  As you can also see, she is still a thumb sucker.

She is such a sweet, loving baby.  We love you Kate!

Nufing!

I went to tuck Gavin in bed tonight, after Travis already had.  He threw the covers off, so I could pull them up again and here's the conversation that took place:

Gavin : "I like it when you tuck me in.  Travis says nufing to me."
Mom: "Oh really.  He says nothing?"
Gavin: "No.  Nufing like you're an angel, or you're my sunshine.  Nufing."

I love that boy :)  He always has a way to put a smile on my face!

***ADDITION TO THIS POST***
So Travis went to tuck Gavin in last night and said "Goodnight Sunshine", to which he replied, "Um, no.  I'm mommy's sunshine!"

Little Charmer

Gavin just said to me, "Mom.  I wish I was Prince Charming.  Then I could marry you, because you are a Princess."

What a sweet talker :)
